Nonfat Dry Milk - Eastern and Central U.S.

     Report 46 - Released on November 14, 2019

CENTRAL: Low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) prices are waxing yet again this week.
Mexican buyers are busy and putting positive pressure on national markets. Domestic buyers
are active as well. Some contacts suggest holiday buying will maintain longer this year with
the late Thanksgiving holiday. NDM inventories are available, but demand is strong enough to
keep markets very bullish. Production is limited due to whole milk and buttermilk drying,
but steady nonetheless. High heat nonfat dry milk prices also increased on both ends. All in
all, NDM market tones are resolutely bullish. Some contacts expect some slowness to occur,
but not until early December after holiday demand fades.
EAST: Low/medium heat nonfat dry milk (NDM) prices are higher on all sides of the range and
mostly price series this week. Low/medium heat NDM drying time is steady to a bit increased
as some maintenance projects are complete. Spot availability continues to be selective, as
many manufacturers are sold out through the end of 2019. When loads become available, buyers
are paying at higher prices at this time. High heat NDM prices also shifted higher on both
ends of the range. Spot load prices have adjusted to increased seasonal demand. Inventories
are adequate for committed agreements, yet short for spot market purchases. The NDM market
     tone is bullish.
